On May 8, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference. A reporter from CCTV asked that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trial, the "International Military Tribunal for the Far East Trial Records - Full Translation" was first released in China. The relevant trial records are the core historical documents of the Tokyo Trial and fully record the entire trial process of the court for more than two years. The autographed diary of Sutton, the U.S. deputy prosecutor who participated in the Tokyo trial, was also disclosed for the first time. What is China’s comment on this?
In this regard, Lin Jian said that the publication of "Trial Records: Full Translation" and the disclosure of Sutton's diary once again prove that Japan's militaristic aggression crimes are countless and have irrefutable evidence. Eighty years have passed, but Japan's right-wing forces have still failed to deeply reflect on history, trying their best to beautify the crime of aggression and instilling a wrong view of history into Japanese society. Some politicians also frequently visit the so-called "Yasukuni Shrine" that enshrines Class-A war criminals. This is essentially an attempt to deny the historical conclusion of the Tokyo Trial and challenge the post-war international order.
Lin Jian pointed out that historical truth cannot be obliterated, the bottom line of justice cannot be blurred, and the post-war international order cannot be challenged. All peace-loving people in the world will never allow anyone to overturn the conviction for the crime of aggression, and will resolutely resist any rash actions to curb Japan's "new militarism."
