CCTV news: On October 13, the China Shipbuilding Industry Association released the latest data. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry improved rapidly, and my country's shipbuilding industry continued to lead the world.
As of the end of June 2025, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's shipbuilding industry has undertaken a total of 64.2% of global new ship orders, 15.1 percentage points higher than during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. Its status as a major shipbuilding country has been further consolidated, and its market share has ranked first in the world for 16 consecutive years.
Among them, shipbuilding completions accounted for 51.7% of the world's total, and accounted for 47.2% of the world's total, based on the corrected tonnage that reflects ship prices and output values, which were 8.6 and 11 percentage points higher than at the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" respectively.
Li Yanqing, secretary-general of the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, said that in the past five years, we have a very obvious feature, that is, we have made great progress in intelligent and high-end products, and a series of green products are the first in the world.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's shipbuilding industry delivered a number of high-end ship types such as 300,000-ton ultra-large crude oil tankers, dual-fuel powered vehicle roll-on/roll-off ships, and the first domestically produced large-scale cruise ship Aida. Currently, at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, the construction progress of the second domestically produced large cruise ship has reached 85%.
Chen Gang, Chairman of CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, said that they will go on sea trials in May 2026 and complete the delivery of the second domestically produced large cruise ship in December 2026.
China's shipbuilding industry has improved both in quality and quality, and the efficiency of shipbuilding companies has also improved significantly. As of June 2025, the operating income profit margin of the country's large-scale shipbuilding industry enterprises has reached 9.71%, a record high.
