In the past two days, fishermen are busy transferring 20 million big yellow croaker from small cages in the inland sea to large cages in the outer sea. The "sea ranch" is busy.
Dongchong Village, Beibi Township, Xiapu County, Ningde City is located at the southernmost end of the Dongchong Peninsula. It is the connection between the inland sea and the outer sea, and is an important breeding area for big yellow croaker.
In the fishing raft, villagers were busy "moving" the big yellow croaker. Everyone used an iron hook to pull up the fishing net, drove the fish into the net by making a sound, then lifted the big yellow croaker with the robotic arm on the live water boat and poured it into the cabin, and then transported it to the deep-water large cage box outside the sea.
According to reports, these fries were put into place in April 2024. After more than a year of breeding, they have grown from the size of a thumb to the size of a palm, with a single tail weight of about 3 to 4 taels.
At this stage, fishermen have to sort according to their size and weight, which is the so-called "seedling", and transfer them to large deep-sea cages for breeding.
Xiapu County, Fujian Province is the core production area of big yellow croaker and is known as the "hometown of big yellow croaker". In 2025, the annual output of big yellow croaker here is expected to reach 240,000 tons, with an annual output value of about 3 billion yuan.
