Lei Haichao, director of the National Health Commission, introduced that in 2024, the life expectancy of Chinese residents has reached 79 years old, an increase of 0.4 years from 2023, and the established direction of efforts to achieve the goals of the "14th Five-Year Plan" national economic and social development plan ahead of schedule. The average life expectancy in 2024 is 1.7 years higher than in 2019, and the five-year period is 1.7 years higher, which is also a very good improvement speed. The average life expectancy of eight provinces and cities in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hainan is more than 80 years old.
