In 2024, local copyright authorities and copyright registration agencies will do a solid and orderly manner in a copyright registration work, providing strong copyright support for comprehensively promoting the construction of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese-style modernization. The national copyright registration situation in 2024 is now announced as follows:

1. Overall situation

The total number of national copyright registrations in 2024 reached 1,0630,610 pieces, an increase of 19.13% year-on-year.

2. Copyright registration of works

According to the statistics of the copyright bureaus of provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and China Copyright Protection Center, a total of 7802,965 copyright registrations for works were completed nationwide in 2024, an increase of 21.39% year-on-year.

The total number of copyright registrations for works in the country has shown a significant growth trend. The number of registered works is: 1290,130 in Beijing, accounting for 16.53% of the total registrations; 1257,538 in Fujian, accounting for 16.12% of the total registrations; 817,265 in Shandong, accounting for 10.47% of the total registrations; 516,355 in Hebei, accounting for 6.62% of the total registrations; 500,200 in China Copyright Protection Center, accounting for 6.41% of the total registrations. The above registration volume accounts for 56.15% of the total registration volume in the country. Compared with 2023, the growth rate of copyright registrations for works in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Henan and Xinjiang has exceeded 100%; the growth rate of copyright registrations for works in Hebei, Fujian, Guangxi, Yunnan, Shaanxi and Gansu has exceeded 50%.

From the type of work, the most registered are 4285,495 art works, accounting for 54.92% of the total registered; the second is 2478,666 photography works, accounting for 31.77% of the total registered; the third is 728,096 text works, accounting for 9.33% of the total registered; the fourth is 136,345 film and television works, accounting for 1.75% of the total registered. The number of copyright registrations for works of the above types accounts for 97.77% of the total registrations. In addition, there are 37,782 musical works, accounting for 0.48% of the total registered volume; 33,487 video works, accounting for 0.43% of the total registered volume; 30,523 graphic works, accounting for 0.39% of the total registered volume; 20,111 phonographs, accounting for 0.26% of the total registered volume; 5,694 models, dramas, folk arts, architectural works, etc., accounting for 0.07% of the total registered volume.

3. Computer software copyright registration status

According to statistics on computer software copyright registration information of China Copyright Protection Center, a total of 2827,213 computer software copyright registrations were completed nationwide in 2024, an increase of 13.31% year-on-year, showing a rapid growth trend overall.

From the distribution of the registration area, the computer software copyright registration area is mainly distributed in the eastern region, with about 1.61 million registrations, accounting for 57% of the total registration.

From the number of registrations in each region, the provinces (cities) with a large amount of copyright registration for computer software are: Guangdong, Beijing, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Hubei, Anhui, and Liaoning. A total of about 1.93 million computer software copyrights were registered in the above-mentioned areas, accounting for 68% of the total registration. Among them, there are more than 280,000 registered computer software copyrights in Guangdong Province, accounting for 10% of the total registration.

4. Copyright Pledge Registration Situation

According to the copyright pledge registration information statistics of the China Copyright Protection Center, in 2024, a total of 432 copyright pledge registrations were completed nationwide, an increase of 5.11% year-on-year; the number of contracts involved was 287, a decrease of 24.87% year-on-year; the number of works involved was 1,934, a decrease of 7.11% year-on-year; the amount involved was 4677.0825 million yuan, a decrease of 53.03% year-on-year; the amount involved was 4101.3517 million yuan, a decrease of 58.40% year-on-year.

267 computer software copyright pledge registrations, a year-on-year decrease of 26.04%; 267 contracts involved, a year-on-year decrease of 26.04%; 1,769 software software involved, a year-on-year decrease of 12.94%; the amount involved was 4500.7862 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 50.93%; the amount involved was 3909.2902 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 56.92%.

The copyright pledge registration of 165 works (except computer software), a year-on-year increase of 230%; the number of contracts involved was 20, a year-on-year decrease of 4.76%; the number of works involved was 165, a year-on-year increase of 230%; the amount involved was 176.2963 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 77.59%; the amount involved was 192.0615 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 75.5%.
