This transport ship can load an additional 1,600 vehicles while keeping its hull length and width unchanged. How did this be done?
The dual-fuel vehicle transport ship delivered this time has a total length of 200 meters and a 38-meter width. It has a 14-layer car deck and can carry at least 8,600 standard cars. At the same time, in order to meet the loading needs of different cargoes such as engineering vehicles and special equipment, 5-layer liftable decks were designed. It is worth noting that this ship is the "expanded and upgraded version" of the original 7,000-vehicle dual-fuel vehicle transport ship. Its length and width remain unchanged, but its capacity is even larger.
He Yongcai, project manager of China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipbuilding International 8600 vehicle dual-fuel vehicle transport ship: "The technical difficulties are mainly the control of weight and center of gravity. The garage has added two layers. On the one hand, we have optimized the structural design and used a large amount of 6mm thick steel plates. At the same time, we have also used a fixed ballast of 1,300 tons to achieve good stability."
It is understood that Guangzhou Shipbuilding International has received nearly 40 car transport ship orders, and 13 have been successfully built and delivered so far.
