The Deep-Grade Taco Well 1 is located in Shaya County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is located in the hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert. It is a major "deep-Grade Project" implemented by China Petroleum in the Tarim Basin and is the first 10,000-meter-level Exploration Well in my country.
The 1 Well of Shendi Taco was drilled on May 30, 2023. It took 279 days from the surface to the drilling of 10,000 meters; it took more than 300 days from 10,000 meters to the last nearly 1 kilometer. It is worth noting that the first core specimen in my country was successfully drilled below 10,000 meters. The first oil and gas discovery was discovered in the global land-based deep drilling for the first time, filling the gap in the geology field of 10,000 meters and expanding new areas of oil and gas exploration in 10,000 meters.
Wang Chunsheng, chief expert of Tarim Oilfield and the head of the Tarim 1 well, introduced that they have drilled through 12 sets of formations in the Tarim Basin and drilled rock strata that can produce oil and gas in the well section between 10,851 meters and 10,910 meters. For the first time, oil strata were found in the global land vertical depth of more than 10,000 meters.
In recent years, my country has increased its exploration and development efforts in the ultra-deep oil and gas field. China Petroleum has discovered a 1 billion-ton oil field and three trillion-meter atmospheric zones at a depth of 6,000-9,000 meters in Xinjiang and Sichuan. The ultra-deep field is a major strategic development direction for my country's future oil and gas exploration.
