On March 25, reporters learned from the China Railway Kunming Bureau Group that in the morning, as a fully loaded China-Laos Railway international freight train sailed from the Kunming Container Center Station in Yunnan to Vientiane, Laos, it marked that the China-Laos railway cargo transportation officially exceeded 80 million tons, of which cross-border cargo transportation exceeded 18 million tons, which effectively promoted regional economic development.

It is understood that since the opening of the China-Laos Railway, a total of 71,000 freight trains have been operated across the entire line. The number of cross-border freight trains per day has increased from 2 at the beginning of the opening to a maximum of 23. The tonnage of the trains has increased from 2,000 tons to 2,800 tons. It has become a "golden channel" for "interconnection" between China and ASEAN.

Targeting market demand, the Kunming Bureau of the State Railway launched the China-Laos Railway "Lanmei Express" international freight train, and innovatively launched a series of international freight train products such as the "Lanmei Express + China-Europe Train", "Shanghai-Yunnan-Lanmei Line", "Beijing-Yunnan-Lanmei Line" and "Kunming Land Port" rail-high sea intermodal transport. At present, two 120 kilometers per hour and six 80 kilometers per hour planned Central Asia freight trains are operating to promote the docking of cross-regional industrial chains and promote the steady growth of cross-border freight volume. So far, more than 20,000 international freight trains have been operated on the China-Laos Railway.

Since the opening of the China-Laos Railway, the volume of transported goods has increased year by year. The freight transported by the China-Laos Railway has reached 12.47 million tons, 17.81 million tons, 19.64 million tons, and 24.48 million tons respectively. It has reached 5.64 million tons so far this year, showing an increasing trend year by year and showing a strong development momentum.

At present, the China-Laos railway transportation territory continues to expand, covering 19 countries and regions including Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangladesh. The types of cross-border commodities have expanded from more than 10 types such as fertilizers and rubber in the initial stage of opening to more than 3,800 types of chemicals, fresh produce, textiles, electrical appliances, minerals, agricultural sidelines, etc., injecting new vitality and adding new momentum to regional prosperity and development.
