The reporter learned from the Ministry of Natural Resources today (20th) that my country has built more than 5,100 green mines at or above the provincial level, achieving remarkable results in the conservation and intensive utilization of mineral resources, ecological restoration, energy conservation and emission reduction.

The Ministry of Natural Resources stated that in the first 10 months of this year, more than 300 new green mines at or above the provincial level were built in my country. Up to now, 1,054 national-level green mines and 4,055 provincial-level green mines have been built across the country, accounting for 40.8% of the certified mines in production. Positive progress has been made in the construction of green mines. Huang Xuexiong, Director of the Mineral Resources Protection and Supervision Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources: In the process of promoting the construction of green mines, our country has built a large number of energy resource bases and national planned mining areas to promote more intensive and large-scale resource development. The number of large and medium-sized mines in the country accounts for more than 50%, and the production capacity accounts for more than 80%. It has also innovated technology and equipment, and the level of comprehensive utilization of resources has been comprehensively improved.

At present, various green mines have actively carried out low-grade and associated re-evaluation work, resulting in a substantial increase in the amount of resources. The new resources of cobalt and rhenium have increased by more than 100%, and the new resources of nickel and indium have increased by more than 30%. A number of "dead ores" have been turned into "active ores", and "small mines" have been turned into "big mines", effectively extending the service life of the mines.

The Ministry of Natural Resources stated that the current green mine construction has changed from a multiple-choice question to a must-answer question, and the construction goals for the future period have been clarified. By the end of 2028, 90% of large mines and 80% of medium-sized mines in production must meet the requirements of green mine standards. In the next step, all localities should comprehensively promote the construction and operation of new mines in strict accordance with green mine standards, accelerate the green upgrading and transformation of production mines, and urge production mines that have not yet begun construction to start as soon as possible. At the same time, on the basis of existing industry standards, the formulation and introduction of industry standards for open-pit mining, geothermal mineral water, offshore oil and gas, etc. will be accelerated to further improve the green mining standard system.
