Villagers can achieve "freedom of delivery" at their doorsteps, confirming that the "last mile" of rural revitalization has been opened.
Since this year, my country's express delivery industry has maintained efficient operation, the market scale has steadily expanded, the quality and efficiency of services have continued to improve, and holiday consumption has been strong, laying a good foundation for achieving the annual development goals.
The data from the State Post Bureau confirms this vitality: According to estimates, China's express delivery development index from January to February 2025 was 368.6, an increase of 11.8% year-on-year. Among them, the development scale index, service quality index, development capacity index and development trend index were 519.3, 464.8, 221.4 and 70.1 respectively, an increase of 27.6%, 1.2%, 5.4% and 6.2% year-on-year respectively.
Before the Spring Festival, express delivery companies actively serve the "New Year's Festival" promotion, enhance the comprehensive service capabilities of early tea, flowers, traditional Chinese medicine and other products, and help agricultural products in various places rise. The express delivery industry has achieved rapid growth, with an average daily business volume of about 620 million pieces, exceeding the daily average of "Double 11" in 2024.
During the Spring Festival holiday (January 28 to February 4), express delivery companies actively guarantee users' basic delivery needs, with a business volume of 1.15 billion pieces, an increase of 31% compared with the same period of the lunar calendar last year.
After the holiday, the express delivery company quickly resumes normal operation. Since February 5, the collection has continued to exceed 500 million pieces, with an average daily business volume of 540 million pieces.
Behind the expansion of the scale of the express delivery industry is the systematic upgrade of service quality. From January to February, my country's express delivery industry aimed at the refined field to continuously improve service quality. Data shows that from January to February, the express service quality index was 464.8, an increase of 1.2% year-on-year. Judging from the sub-indicators, the average public satisfaction of express delivery services from January to February is expected to be 84.9 points, an increase of 1.2 points year-on-year. The average 72-hour free investment rate in key areas is expected to be 81%, an increase of 7.7 percentage points year-on-year.
According to reports, my country's express delivery companies are actively adding road transport dedicated lines, increasing investment in air capacity, and improving the transportation timelines; updating automatic sorting equipment and upgrading intelligent warehousing control systems to promote efficient coordination of human-machinees and improving network transfer efficiency; by adding mobile express delivery cabinets and developing unmanned stations, the terminal delivery timelines are improved and the shortcomings of insufficient personnel during the holidays are made up.
It is worth noting that the "capillaries" of express delivery services are accelerating their extension to remote areas. Express delivery companies continue to expand the scope of service to the countryside and villages, add express delivery centers in the western region, use intelligent technology to optimize the transportation process, and effectively ensure the service quality in remote areas. The growth rate of express delivery volume in Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Xinjiang and other places is significantly higher than the national average.
Faced with the new trend of consumption upgrading, the special services of the express delivery industry are also eye-catching. In terms of live fish aquatic products delivery, express delivery companies adopt the special packaging of "water + oxygen" to extend the preservation time; by adding pre-collection points + drone transportation + high-speed rail and air transportation, the transfer time is greatly reduced to ensure that fresh live aquatic products arrive at consumers' dining tables. In terms of delivery of high-value products, express delivery companies actively carry out high-end delivery services, adopt special people and cars to deliver them, and provide on-time and fixed-point services to bring consumers a more ritual gift experience.
From January to February, the express delivery development capacity index was 221.4, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year.
The Changsha Cross-border Intelligent Logistics Industrial Park, Changde Smart Science and Technology Innovation Park and other parks have started construction, and the joint cargo station jointly built with Xinjiang Airport Group has been officially opened, the Hainan headquarters and aviation logistics hub base of express delivery companies have been put into operation, and the Guangzhou South China E-commerce Industrial Park has been engaged in operation. In 2025, my country's express delivery industry infrastructure will be accelerated, and the distribution and transfer capacity will be steadily enhanced, providing strong support for local industrial development.
At the same time, unmanned delivery in the express delivery industry has also ushered in new development. Express delivery companies have invested in unmanned vehicles in many places such as Hangzhou and Jiamusi, opened Guizhou's "low-altitude + logistics" drone drug distribution route, activated Shenzhen's "air-ground collaborative" smart logistics operation center, and innovated the "drone + unmanned vehicle short-bar + drone connection cabinet + building robot" distribution model, and enhanced the end delivery capabilities with unmanned use, and promoted the integrated development of ground and low-altitude unmanned transportation and delivery.
In addition, express delivery companies continue to promote the construction of the international delivery logistics system, newly put into use of overseas warehouses in the Netherlands, open selected express delivery lines to the UK, Germany and other countries, upgrade and improve comprehensive European solutions, optimize South Korean overseas shopping and integrated transportation services, overseas warehouse distribution capabilities continue to be enhanced, and the efficiency of cross-border delivery services has steadily improved.
