On January 14, the State Immigration Administration held a press conference to release the main data on immigration management in 2024.
In 2024, the national immigration management agencies inspected a total of 610 million inbound and outbound personnel, an increase of 43.9% year-on-year; among which 291 million mainland residents, 254 million Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, and 64.882 million foreigners, an increase of 41.3%, 38.8% and 82.9% year-on-year respectively.
The total number of inbound and outbound transportation vehicles was inspected throughout the year, an increase of 38.8% year-on-year; of which 879,000 aircraft were conducted, 101,000 trains, 437,000 ships, and 31.149 million motor vehicles were inspected, an increase of 62.6%, 11%, 8.2% and 38.9% year-on-year respectively.
A total of 23.319 million ordinary passports were issued, 94.514 million visas for mainland residents to travel to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, up 26.5% and 9.8% year-on-year, and 2.578 million passes for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents to travel to the mainland (Mainland), a slight decrease compared with the peak of centralized application for certificates after the epidemic in 2023; 2.597 million visas for foreigners were issued, up 52.3% year-on-year, and 20.115 million foreigners without visa entry were issued, up 112.3% year-on-year.
The government service platform of the Immigration Bureau provides 130 million government services such as inquiries for Chinese and foreign inbound and outbound personnel, and provides 34.07 million identity verification services for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, overseas Chinese and foreigners for free; the 12367 service hotline of the National Immigration Management Agency received 7.0841 million calls for consultations, opinions and suggestions from Chinese and foreign personnel, with an average satisfaction rate of 99.36%.
