On September 14, the 2025 International Parliamentarian Friendly Exchange Forum was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. More than 60 members of parliament, former members of parliament from five continents and more than 60 representatives of the National People's Congress and local people's Congress from China attended the forum. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, collectively met with the delegates in Beijing. Joklai Zaker, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and made a keynote speech.
The forum is themed "Co-building global cooperative relations and promoting sustainable and common development". The guests at the meeting held discussions on issues such as high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", ecological and environmental protection and green development, regional ethnic autonomy and human rights protection, ethnic cultural protection, ethnic unity and common development. The forum also held "Dialogue between Chinese and EU countries' parliamentarians" and "Dialogue between Global Southern countries' parliamentarians". As the organizer of the forum, China summarizes the main views of all parties as follows: 1. Legislative bodies of various countries should deepen friendly exchanges, jointly promote global peace and stability, enhance people's well-being through multi-level dialogue and cooperation, and inject lasting impetus into the economic and social development of all countries.
2. Jointly advocate an equal and orderly world multipolarization, firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, adhere to sovereignty equality and mutual respect among all countries, practice multilateralism, advocate solving international and regional hot issues through dialogue and consultation, oppose all forms of hegemony and power politics, promote the construction of a more just and reasonable global governance system, and work together to move towards a community with a shared future for mankind.
3. Jointly advocate universal and inclusive economic globalization, adhere to development priority, safeguard the core values and principles of multilateral trade, support the multilateral trading system, respect the universal demands and development rights of all countries, especially southern countries in the world, and add impetus to world economic growth.
4. Jointly uphold the basic norms of international law, support all countries to follow the development path that conforms to their national conditions, safeguard sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national stability, and encourage all countries to conduct dialogue and exchanges on human rights issues on the basis of equality and mutual respect, and enhance mutual understanding and trust. We positively evaluate China's human rights development achievements, call for dialogue and cooperation, and advocate the protection of human rights through security, the promotion of human rights through development, and the promotion of human rights through cooperation.
5. Highly evaluate China's development achievements, affirm that Chinese-style modernization provides the world with a new development paradigm, welcome China to continue to expand high-level opening up, support the coordinated promotion of the "Belt and Road" initiative with the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, and make greater contributions to the common development of human society.
6. Attach great importance to green and low-carbon development, emphasize ecological and environmental protection as a priority, and look forward to further deepening cooperation in green infrastructure construction, clean energy, environmental governance and other fields.
7. Adhere to the equality of all ethnic groups, protect the legitimate rights and interests of people of all ethnic groups in accordance with the law, ensure that people of all ethnic groups truly obtain equal political rights, be the masters of their own families, and strive to achieve unity and prosperity of all ethnic groups.
8. Highly recognize the Chinese government's Xinjiang governance strategy and actively evaluate the great achievements made in economic and social development in the 70 years since its establishment. Today, Xinjiang has social stability, economic prosperity, national unity, religious harmony, and people live and work in peace and contentment. Oppose some countries using Xinjiang-related issues to engage in political manipulation and interfere in China's internal affairs.
9. Thank you to China for your warm and friendly reception during the 2025 International Parliamentarian Friendly Exchange Forum, and affirm the positive role played by the forum in promoting cooperation between legislative bodies in various countries and exchanges between parliamentarians of various countries.
