CCTV News: A reporter learned from China Petroleum on March 13 that the Tarim Oilfield, the largest ultra-deep oil and gas production base in my country, has produced a total of 150 million tons of oil and gas equivalent from the formation below 6,000 meters, equivalent to 37% of the national oil and gas production in 2024.
In oil and gas development, strata with a buried depth of more than 4,500 meters are generally called deep layers, while strata with a buried depth of more than 6,000 meters is called super-deep layers. In the first two months of 2025, Tarim Oilfield accelerated the development of ultra-deep oil and gas, and the oil and gas equivalent produced from it exceeded 3 million tons. The ultra-deep oil and gas production increased day by day, becoming the main force in increasing reserves and production.

The Fuman Oil Zone of Tarim Oil Field, located in the heart of the Taklamakan Desert, is currently the largest ultra-deep crude oil production area in my country. The drilling was successfully completed in the 72-H10 days ago, with a drilling cycle of 81 days, setting a record of the fastest drilling of 8,500 meters deep wells on the mainland.
The oil and gas resources in the Fuman Oil Zone of Tarim Oil Field exceed 1 billion tons, but most of these oil and gas are buried deep in the strata seven or eight thousand meters underground. Tarim Oilfield relies on scientific and technological innovation to accelerate the acquisition of ultra-deep oil and gas. It is planned to build a 5 million-ton oil field here in 2025. Two major energy arteries are under construction and put into operation at the end of this year. While the Tarim Oilfield is accelerating the increase in production capacity, the construction of energy channels is also accelerating at the same time. Xinjiang’s key people’s livelihood project - gasification of the southern Xinjiang natural gas pipeline project, two natural gas pipelines, Yingmaili to Sancha and Lunnan to Shangku Industrial Park, started construction simultaneously a few days ago. After completion and operation at the end of the year, the interconnection between the main gas fields in the Tarim Basin and the main gas supply pipeline network in southern Xinjiang will be realized.
The pipeline project with a total length of 510 kilometers is designed, divided into two roads, and continuously expanding and extending along the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains. The Yingmaili to Sancha natural gas pipeline on the west side starts from Xinhe County, Aksu Prefecture, passes through Aksu, Keping and other counties and cities, and reaches Sanchakou Town, Bachu County, 382 kilometers away, with a daily gas supply scale of 7.2 million cubic meters. The Lunnan to Shangku natural gas pipeline on the east side starts in Lunnan Town, Luntai County and ends in Shangku Industrial Park, Korla City. The pipeline length is 128 kilometers and the daily gas supply scale reaches 20.4 million cubic meters.
The gasification of the southern Xinjiang natural gas pipeline project is an important part of the expansion project of Xinjiang's natural gas-Limin Pipeline. The overall project is planned to be 2,108 kilometers long and is planned to be implemented in three batches. The vast Gobi Desert in the past has transformed into a "blue ocean"

The base is distributed with more than 20,000 sets of heliostats. They can "lock" the sunlight in real time according to the changes in the sun's illumination, and firmly "set" the sunlight on the light tower after converging the sun's energy.
With the help of scientific and technological innovation, it not only effectively solves the shortcomings of "day and night losses" of photovoltaic power generation, but also realizes the "dry-fighting" of photovoltaic power abandonment.
As of the end of 2024, the total installed power capacity of the Qaidam Basin was 25.17 million kilowatt-hours, and the annual green electricity generation reached 26.1 billion kilowatt-hours.
