Chongli is the venue for most snow events in the Beijing Winter Olympics. At present, 9 ski resorts and more than 200 kilometers of snow tracks have been built here. The hardware facilities are complete and the supporting services are constantly upgraded, attracting tourists from all over the country and even the world to experience ice and snow sports. Many high-end events of the International Snow Federation have also been held here.
In addition to winter skiing, Chongli is also fully exploring the cultural and tourism experiences of spring, summer and autumn. From "fire in one season" to "hot in four seasons", Chongli has already opened four seasons of operation for 7 ski resorts. Mountain bike racing, camping and cross-country running have attracted more and more attention, and a diverse outdoor holy land is gradually taking shape.
The arrival of "ice and snow fever" has also allowed local people to enjoy tangible benefits. The booming "ice and snow economy" has created a large number of jobs in the local area. In a local ski shop, the owner Mi Jiaxuan is a native Chongli native. He once went out to work because of the lack of employment opportunities in the local area. With the construction of ski resorts in his hometown, the number of tourists coming here for vacation and skiing is increasing. He has also returned to his hometown to start a business like many of his peers. The sales in the store in recent snow seasons have reached 300,000.
In order to help the development of national ice and snow sports and continuously cultivate and transport ice and snow sports talents, Zhangjiakou Ice and Snow Sports School was officially established in Chongli in 2024. The school mainly carries out vocational education and basic education in sports, is equipped with professional facilities and a coaching team, and offers professional projects such as alpine skiing, U-shaped venues, cross-country skiing, biathlon and other professional projects.
In the past, the mountains of Chongli were an important obstacle to restricting local economic development. Nowadays, the white snow trails spread across the mountains have opened the door to Chongli's "ice and snow economy".
