Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 10. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with the visiting delegation of the Chinese Kuomintang led by Chairman Zheng Liwen in Beijing on the morning of the 10th.

Xi Jinping welcomed the delegation led by Zheng Liwen. He pointed out that the leaders of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party met again after 10 years, which was of great significance to the development of relations between the two parties and cross-Strait relations. Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to the same Chinese nation. People of all ethnic groups, including Taiwan compatriots, have jointly created a unified multi-ethnic country, jointly written the glorious history of China, jointly created a splendid Chinese civilization, jointly cultivated a great national spirit, and also forged a common belief that the land is indivisible, the country cannot be chaotic, the nation cannot be dispersed, and the civilization cannot be broken, leading the Chinese nation to continue to strive for self-improvement and the Chinese civilization to continue.

Xi Jinping emphasized that no matter how the international situation and the situation across the Taiwan Strait change, the general trend of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will not change, and the general trend of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait getting closer and coming together will not change. Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait hope for peace and tranquility across the Taiwan Strait, for the improvement and development of cross-Strait relations, and for a better life. This is an unshirkable responsibility of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and it is also the driving force for cooperation. On the common political basis of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence," we are willing to work with Taiwan's political parties, organizations and people from all walks of life, including the Chinese Kuomintang, to strengthen exchanges and dialogues to seek peace across the Taiwan Strait, benefit our compatriots, and rejuvenate the nation, and keep the future of cross-Strait relations firmly in the hands of the Chinese people themselves.

Xi Jinping put forward four opinions on the development of cross-strait relations.

First, insist on promoting spiritual harmony through correct identification. The compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits share the same roots, culture and species, and are connected by blood. They are a community with a shared future that shares weal and woe. When a family gets along, as long as they have good conversations and discuss matters, there will be no conflicts or differences that cannot be resolved. Different social systems are not an excuse for separatism. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party, as well as compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, must stand firm on their national stance, inherit and carry forward Chinese culture, firmly identify with the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, and the great motherland, and strengthen their ambition and backbone to be upright Chinese people.

Second, insist on protecting our common homeland through peaceful development. Mainland China and Taiwan belong to one China, and China is the common homeland of the Chinese nation. For compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to protect and build this common home, the fundamental thing is to adhere to the "1992 Consensus" and oppose "Taiwan independence". The core is to recognize that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China. Family and everything will be prosperous. We welcome any proposal that is conducive to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, and we will do our best to do anything that is conducive to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations. "Taiwan independence" is the main culprit undermining peace across the Taiwan Strait. We will never tolerate it or tolerate it. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party, as well as compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, must uphold the interests of the nation, oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference, promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, and firmly protect the common home of the Chinese nation.

Third, insist on improving people’s livelihood and well-being through exchanges and integration. The goal of developing cross-Strait relations is to enable compatriots on both sides of the Strait to live a better life. We will continue to uphold the concept of one family on both sides of the Taiwan Straits and actively do practical things, do good deeds and solve problems for Taiwan compatriots. The mainland of the motherland has magnificent mountains and rivers and a vast market. Taiwan compatriots are welcome to go home often, Taiwanese youth are welcome to come to the mainland for exchanges and development, and Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products and high-quality commodities are welcome to enter thousands of households on the mainland. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party, as well as compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, should jointly expand cross-Strait exchanges and integration, and enhance the family ties and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Fourth, persist in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through unity and struggle. This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Revitalizing China and reunifying the country was his lifelong pursuit. Today we have successfully embarked on a Chinese-style modernization path, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable. We firmly believe that more and more Taiwan compatriots will correctly understand the mainland's social system and development path, and deeply understand that Taiwan's development future lies in a strong motherland, and that the interests and well-being of Taiwan compatriots depend on the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. This year is the first year of mainland China's "15th Five-Year Plan". We are willing to share development opportunities and achievements with our Taiwan compatriots and jointly strengthen the Chinese national economy. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party must consolidate political mutual trust, maintain positive interaction, unite compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and work together to create a bright future for motherland reunification and national rejuvenation.

Zheng Liwen said that the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are descendants of the Yanhuang Emperor and the Chinese nation. They are both influenced by Chinese culture. They are all Chinese and one family. They should work together to promote the revitalization of China proposed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party must adhere to the common political basis of the "1992 Consensus" and oppose "Taiwan independence," strengthen political mutual trust, give full play to the function of a communication platform, strive to safeguard Chinese history, promote Chinese culture, promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in non-governmental, grassroots, economic and trade, cultural and other fields, support the development of youth exchanges, enhance the common welfare of the people, promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, create a bright future for cross-Strait relations, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
