According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, on August 6, 2025, Beijing time, the comprehensive verification test for landing and takeoff of the Lanyue Moon Lander was successfully completed at the extraterrestrial celestial landing test site located in Huailai County, Hebei Province. This test is the first time in my country to conduct an extraterrestrial celestial body landing and takeoff test for manned spacecraft. The test conditions are many, the test period is long, and the technical difficulty is high. It is a key node in the development of manned lunar exploration projects in my country.
The moon-surface lander is a newly developed extraterrestrial manned descent and ascending aircraft for the first manned lunar exploration mission in my country. It consists of a lunar module and a propulsion module. It is mainly used for astronaut transportation between the lunar orbit and the surface of the moon. It can carry two astronauts back and forth, and can carry lunar rovers and scientific payloads. It is the lunar life center, energy center and data center after astronauts land on the moon, and can support the development of lunar residency and lunar surface activities.
The comprehensive verification test of landing and takeoff conducts a comprehensive verification of the interface matching between the lunar landing and takeoff system plans, control plans, lunar shutdown plans, and GNC and propulsion. The successful experiment marks a new and important breakthrough in the development of manned lunar exploration projects in my country.
