CCTV News: With the arrival of spring, more than 10,000 camels in Bazhou, Xinjiang ushered in the lambing season. Herders are busy picking up lambs and raising children, preparing for the arrival of new life.
In the past two days, Dorgara, a herder from Nanshan Ranch in Bostenhu Township, Bohu County, is busy preparing feed and laying out living environment for newborn camel cubs.
Dorgara, a herdsman in Bostenhu Township, Bohu County, Bazhou, Xinjiang, said: "First point, we need to add some nutritious meals to camels during the production period, such as corn and spicy pellets, so we can feed them with ingredients to increase nutrition. At the same time, it is also for the new camel babies to keep warmer, so we clean up the environment and lay grass."
Hernastor Doorgara introduced that his family is expected to produce more than 40 small camels this spring. At present, the camel inventory in Bazhou, Xinjiang has exceeded 10,000 peaks, and the camel lambing season will last from late February to early May. In recent years, Bazhou, Xinjiang has developed the camel industry with natural pastures. By selling camel velvet, camel mane, camel milk, camel meat, and tourism, the average annual income per camel can reach more than 5,000 yuan.
