During the Spring Festival holiday, are you exploring the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland? On the journey, you may see many bridges of different lengths and shapes. From cable-stayed to suspension cables, from crossing rivers to crossing seas, China's "bridge family" has moved to the forefront of the world with amazing speed and quality. Below is a list of the "Chinese Bridges that span mountains and seas" for you. ↓
The world's largest dual-purpose steel arch bridge with high span of highway and railway
Shanghai-Sutong Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge
As a cross-Yangtze River control project of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tong Railway Section of my country's coastal railway channel, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tong Yangtze River Bridge is 11.07 kilometers long, integrating the three functions of national railway, intercity railway and expressway. It is currently the largest dual-span highway-rail cable-stayed bridge in the world. It will be completed and opened to traffic on July 1, 2020. The completion and opening of the bridge has completely bid farewell to Zhangjiagang City's history of no trains, and the journey from Nantong to Shanghai has been shortened from 5 hours to about 1 hour.
The world's largest span is fully offshore
Sea-China Steel Box Beam Suspension Bridge
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Shenzhen-China Channel Shenzhen-China Bridge
The Shenzhen-China Channel is another super cross-sea cluster project that integrates "bridges, islands, tunnels, and underwater interconnection" after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. It has a total length of 24 kilometers and was completed and opened to traffic on June 30, 2024, making the "1-hour traffic circle" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area a reality. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge is one of the key control projects of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel. It has a total length of 2,826 meters and a main span of 1,666 meters. The bridge set five world records, including the world's largest span all-offshore sea steel box girder suspension bridge, the world's highest navigable clearance sea bridge, the world's largest sea anchor, the world's highest flutter test wind speed, and the world's largest volume steel bridge deck hot-mix epoxy asphalt paving.
The world's largest span
Super bearing steel pipe concrete arch bridge
Guizhou Wujiang Super Bridge
The Wujiang Super Bridge of Guizhou Deyu Expressway is 1,834 meters long, with a main span of 504 meters, and its span ranks first in the world in the upper bearing steel pipe concrete arch bridge. The bridge connects the three counties of Fenggang, Shiqian and Sinan in Guizhou. The structure adopts a fully consolidated supportless integrated stress system of arches, columns and beams, which are the first in China to be known as "a brilliant new star on the pyramid of the world's bridge." On March 30, 2023, the main body of the Wujiang Super Bridge was completed.

Hybrid beam cable-stayed bridge
Danjiangkou Reservoir Super Bridge
The Danjiangkou Reservoir Super Bridge, built by China Communications Communications Group, is located in the water source of the National South-to-North Water Diversion Project, a national first-class water source protection zone, and an important wetland protection zone in China. In order to not only build the "Road to Get Rich" and be a "well guardian", the bridge adopts a one-span "reservoir". It has a total length of 1,076 meters and a main span of 760 meters. It is the world's largest span part-station hybrid beam cable-stayed bridge. After the completion and opening of traffic on Shixi Expressway, it will connect five scenic spots including the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, Danjiangkou Reservoir Area, the World Natural Heritage Shennongjia, the World Cultural Heritage Wudang Mountain and the Laojun Mountain in Luoyang, Henan, to play an important role in improving the layout of the regional expressway network and promoting economic and social development along the route.

full floating steel box girder suspension bridge
Xiamen Haicang Bridge
The main line of Xiamen Haicang Bridge is 5,926 meters long and adopts the standard design of two-way 6-lane urban main roads. It is designed and constructed by my country by itself and is the first large three-span continuous fully floating steel box girder suspension bridge in my country. From Niutou Mountain in Dongdugang across Huoshaoyu Island to the Paitoumen of Haicang Shitang, the Haicang Bridge is surging on the west sea of Xiamen.
China's first highway bridge across the strait
Xiamen Bridge
On December 19, 1991, the Xiamen Bridge was officially completed and opened to traffic. This bridge is the first in New China and the largest and highest standard cross-strait highway bridge in my country at that time. As one of the major infrastructure construction projects after my country's reform and opening up, especially after the establishment of the special economic zones, the opening of the Xiamen Bridge not only improved the traffic conditions of the emerging special economic zones, but also promoted the development of the entire southeast coastal economy.
