Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1970, China-Zhizhi has achieved fruitful results in trade cooperation between the two sides. According to customs statistics, my country's imports and exports to Chile in the first four months of this year were 163.19 billion yuan, a record high in the same period, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, and the growth rate was 3 percentage points higher than my country's overall import and export.
Chile is the first Latin American country to sign a bilateral free trade agreement with my country, and is also the first country in South America to implement mutual recognition arrangements with my country for customs "Certified Operators" (AEO). Since the China-ZhiZhi Free Trade Agreement came into effect, the scale of bilateral trade has grown rapidly, expanding from 70.85 billion yuan in 2006 to 437.95 billion yuan in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 11.2%. At present, Chile is my country's third largest trading partner in Latin America, and my country is Chile's largest trading partner in the world.
In recent years, more and more Chilean agricultural products have entered China, continuously enriching the "fruit plates" and "vegetable baskets" of Chinese consumers. For example, cherries were imported from Chile in the first four months of this year by 17.54 billion yuan, accounting for 16.2% of my country's total import value from Chile during the same period. Chile has become the largest source of cherries imported by my country for more than ten consecutive years. During the same period, my country's imports of frozen crabs, salmon, avocado and other specialty agricultural products from Chile increased by 26.3%, 180.9% and 68.1% respectively.
