On the morning of May 14, President Xi Jinping met with Chilean President Borici who came to China to attend the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-Latin America Forum at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Chile should continuously enrich the contemporary connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, create a model of common development between China and Latin America and South-South cooperation, and jointly promote the cause of peace and progress of mankind.
Boric said: "Chile is the first Latin American country to support China's accession to the WTO. In addition, China is one of the few countries that have signed a free trade agreement with Chile. Today, China is our main trading partner. Our coming to China today shows that we firmly defend multilateralism. The trade war is not our solution to the current challenges and differences. We also support the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative."
