CCTV News: The reporter learned from China National Nuclear Corporation on May 14 that the world's first reactor of "Hualong One" - Fuqing Nuclear Power Unit 5 has been operating safely for 1,000 consecutive days, which once again verified the safety and advanced nature of my country's independent third-generation nuclear power technology.
The world's first reactor of "Hualong No. 1" - Fuqing Nuclear Power Unit 5 is located in the Fuqing Nuclear Power Base in Fujian. Since its operation on August 18, 2022, it has generated a total of 37 billion kWh of power, and has been operating safely for 1,000 consecutive days. This means that my country's nuclear power technology has not only achieved a leap from "following" to "leading", but also has sustainable operation capabilities, contributing the "Chinese solution" to the global clean energy development.
The annual power generation of a single unit of "Hualong No. 1" reaches 10 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the annual production and daily electricity needs of the million people in middle-developed countries, equivalent to an equivalent annual carbon dioxide emission reduction of about 8.16 million tons. At present, there are 41 "Hualong One" units approved for construction and operation in the world, becoming the third-generation nuclear power technology with the largest number of approved units in operation and construction in the world, and is the main reactor type of global nuclear power construction.
The cumulative power generation of the Datengxia Project exceeded 20 billion kWh
The reporter learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that as of 0:00 on May 14, the cumulative power generation of the Datengxia Project exceeded 20 billion kWh, which is equivalent to saving 6.6 million tons of standard coal and reducing emissions of 16.5 million tons of carbon dioxide. The Datengxia Project is an important node project of the national water network and a key control hub in the Pearl River Basin.
The second cross-border railway between China and Mongolia officially started construction
The reporter learned from the State Energy Group on May 14 that the second cross-border railway between China and Mongolia - China Ganqimaodu and Mongolia - Gashusu Haitu Railway Project has officially started construction. This is the second cross-border railway rebuilt by China and Mongolia after 1956.

This railway is 9.91 kilometers long and is jointly built by China and Mongolia. The cross-border section is connected by a 6.08 kilometers bridge and is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2027. In the future, we will be responsible for the import of coking coal in the mining area of Mongolia.
The Qinling Jiutianshan Tunnel was completed. All 20 tunnels on the Xikang High-speed Railway were completed.
The Qinling Jiutianshan Tunnel of the Xikang High-speed Railway was successfully completed on May 13, marking the completion of all 20 tunnels on the Xikang High-speed Railway. The new main line of the high-speed railway is 171 kilometers long and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic next year. By then, the operating time of the Xi'an-Ankang Railway will be reduced from the current 3 hours to within 1 hour, improving the passenger and freight transportation service level in the areas along the route.
The record of vertical depth of shale gas wells in my country has been updated for over 5,300 meters
The reporter learned from Sinopec on May 13 that a shale gas exploration well located in the Sichuan Basin has a vernal depth of more than 5,300 meters, breaking the record of vertical depth of shale gas wells in my country. The vertical depth of a shale gas well refers to the depth from the wellhead position to the bottom of the well in the vertical direction. Through vertical depth data, engineers can judge the location and thickness of shale gas reservoirs, and then evaluate the reserves and admissibility of shale gas.
