About one-quarter of the world's animation derivatives, and nearly 85% of my country's trendy toy products were born here. The sudden tariff storm has put this "toy capital" in huge challenges. When orders in the United States stagnate, how should companies break through? Wang Zhen, the "old toy man" who has been in the industry for 22 years, is a witness to this storm.

In this toy company in Chashan Town, Dongguan, workers are working overtime to replace the English packaging on the product with Chinese packaging. Wang Zhen, the head of the company, introduced that the US market accounts for 20% of the company's export share. After the tariffs of up to 145%, almost all of the original 1,000 US orders were cancelled. During that time, he felt unprecedented pressure.

As an "old toy man" with 22 years of experience, Wang Zhen realized that although the trade war is coming in full force, it also contains new opportunities to expand the market. During the most difficult days, he made more than 300 calls to find a way out for the product. Hard work pays off, and soon, a turning point comes.

The company's head Wang Zhen introduced a support policy for export to domestic sales on April 12. After they contacted JD.com, JD.com responded very quickly and immediately sent the procurement policy to them.

The crisis has become an opportunity. The next morning, Wang Zhen sent the samples to the e-commerce platform. After a quick evaluation by the professional team, Wang Zhen received good news again a day later.

It only took 72 hours from the time I learned the news and the product was launched. During these 72 hours, all staff cooperated closely, the production department worked overtime to change packaging, the R&D department optimized and adjusted the products, and the logistics department planned the transportation route in advance to ensure that the goods could be delivered in a timely manner.

In less than two weeks, Wang Zhen's products sold over 80,000 copies on the e-commerce platform. But he knew that his company was just a microcosm of many affected companies. As the president of the Chashan Town Toys and Baby Products Association, he wants to lead his peers to join in to keep warm and resist the storm together.

On April 24, Wang Zhen took the lead in holding a domestic sales production and sales matchmaking meeting. E-commerce platforms were invited to conduct "one-on-one" negotiations with more than 80 companies in Chashan Town to help more companies achieve export conversion to domestic sales.

The current crisis has been resolved. How can we better face the storm of the market in the future? At present, Wang Zhenzheng is busy promoting the construction of Chashan Toys AI Base and integrating AI technology into toy products. Not long ago, their company's first batch of AI toys were released. These toys can respond differently according to children's voices and movements, and were popular in the market and gave peers confidence to try.

Dongguan Chashan Town Deputy Mayor Chen Xiaowei said that he wanted to empower AI to toy companies, so that companies can build their own brands and produce their own IPs by making AI toys, and do it from production, R&D, sales, omnichannel and full process to increase added value.

Wang Zhen said that there is opportunity in danger, and only in this way can he wake them up and make his brand stronger. Only when the brand becomes stronger and bigger can their brand have a foothold in the world.
