The press conference on Shenzhou 20 manned flight mission was held today (April 23) at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
The spokesperson introduced that since the fourth batch of astronauts joined the team in August 2024, they have carried out a number of trainings and some special trainings such as learning basic theoretical knowledge of aerospace, psychology, aerospace environment adaptability, and other trainings. Through hard research and active training, all the fourth batch of astronauts quickly achieved role transformation, their basic knowledge reserves were effectively strengthened, and their comprehensive physical quality was effectively improved. By organizing flight missions such as launch, return, and out of the cabin, the fourth batch of astronauts have a deeper understanding of manned aerospace engineering and the responsibilities and missions of astronauts. According to the training arrangement and previous experience, the time from being selected to perform flight missions varies. The fourth batch of astronaut training is currently being organized in an orderly manner according to the established plan. After obtaining flight qualifications, they will be included in the candidate range of flight crews. I believe that they will be seen in the flight crew one after another in the near future.
After joining the team, Hong Kong and Macao astronauts quickly adapted to the work and living environment, quickly integrated into the astronaut team, trained diligently and hardly, and all work progressed smoothly. At present, learning and training related to aerospace professional technology are being carried out. As payload experts, Hong Kong and Macao astronauts are expected to perform their first flight mission as early as 2026.
