CCTV.com News: According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, since this year, the progress of electric bicycles in exchange for new products has continued to accelerate, the coverage has continued to expand, the role of benefiting people's livelihood has been continuously enhanced, and the direction of ensuring safety has become more prominent. As of April 8, 3.341 million electric bicycles sold and replaced each nationwide, equivalent to 2.4 times the total replacement volume in 2024 (September-December, the same below). The main features are shown:

First, the replacement progress is constantly accelerating. From January to March this year, the monthly replacement volume of electric bicycles for old exchange was: 156,000, 863,000, and 1.861,000, with an average monthly increase of 285.0%. From April 1 to 8, 461,000 were replaced in just 8 days, and the work continued to speed up. By province, the number of replacement vehicles in 26 provinces exceeded 10,000, of which the number of replacement vehicles in seven provinces, Jiangsu, Hebei, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Hubei, Shandong and Shanxi exceeded 100,000.

Second, the coverage continues to expand. Up to now, 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have carried out actual replacements to achieve full coverage of provincial work. At the municipal level, 421 prefecture-level urban areas (including municipalities directly under the central government) have carried out actual replacement, and the municipal work coverage rate has reached 92.3%.

Third, the role of benefiting people's livelihood is constantly increasing. From the consumer side, since the beginning of this year, a total of 3.3 million consumers have applied for electric bicycle trade-in subsidies, with a total of 2.27 billion yuan of subsidies, which is equivalent to 3.5 times the total subsidy in 2024. From the sales perspective, a total of 64,000 sales stores participated in the trade-in of electric bicycles, most of which were individual industrial and commercial households and small and micro enterprises. A total of 1,997 promotional activities were held, driving new car sales of 9.55 billion yuan, and a single store drove an average of 148,000 yuan in sales, improving the operations of large and micro merchants. From the production side, driven by favorable policies such as old-for-new, production has achieved growth. According to monitoring by the China Bicycle Association, about 11 million electric bicycles were produced nationwide from January to March this year, an increase of 25% year-on-year.

Fourth, the safety protection orientation is more prominent. Since the e-bike trade-in work started in September 2024, more than 4.7 million old cars sold nationwide through the old trade-in method, all the old cars sold were scrapped, and it is strictly prohibited to flow into the market again, which effectively promotes the resolution of existing risks and hidden dangers. The new cars sold all have product certificates and CCC certificates that meet the current national standards, making the safety orientation more prominent.
