CCTV News (News Broadcast): Jizhou Kiln located in Ji'an, Jiangxi Province is one of the most complete ancient kiln ruins discovered and preserved in the world. It was founded in the late Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song and Yuan dynasties. It has a history of more than a thousand years. On March 23, we will take you to Jizhou Kiln to experience the road to the lively inheritance and renewal of the thousand-year porcelain making skills.

Jizhou Kiln is located in Ji'an Yonghe Town, in the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River in Jiangxi Province. It preserves 24 kiln bags from the late Tang Dynasty to the Song and Yuan dynasties. As the temperature warms up, staff from Jizhou Kiln Ancient Ceramics Research Institute opened the first kiln in the Year of the Snake to inherit the traditional porcelain making skills with new porcelain works. During the Song and Yuan dynasties, Jizhou Kiln became famous all over the world before Jingdezhen. It was the most innovative comprehensive folk kiln at that time. It created a unique craft that mainly uses black glaze and is decorated with wood leaf patterns, paper-cut decals, etc.

After the Jizhou Kiln was broken in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, it experienced a long period of silence. In the 1980s, a large number of specimens were unearthed, providing a scientific basis for the study and restoration of the firing technology of Jizhou kiln ceramics. After more than 30 years of scientific research, the lost firing skills of Jizhou Kiln were fully restored.

Jizhou Kiln is a crystallization of the wisdom of generations of skilled craftsmen. In 2014, Jizhou Kiln ceramic firing skills were selected as national intangible cultural heritage. Nowadays, more and more young people are entering Jizhou Kiln to enhance the vitality of ancient skills through innovative practices. Ceramic production, VR archaeology and other experience activities allow participants to feel the long and ancient charm through interaction.
