The National Agricultural Technology Center held the launch ceremony for the first batch of certified seeds in Sanya, Hainan on the same day. Representatives of the first batch of 27 certified seed companies were awarded the crop seed certification certificate.
"Seed certification is a standardized quality assurance system with high-quality seeds as the goal and emphasizes process management. It is confirmed by the certification agency and issued certification certificates and certification marks to prove that a certain batch of seeds meet the corresponding requirements." A relevant person in charge of the National Agricultural Technology Center told reporters that seed certification, as an internationally recognized conformity assessment system with high-quality seeds as the goal, is the most effective way to achieve the goal of "good varieties" to "good seeds". It is known as the "letter of credit" for good seeds, the "physical examination certificate" for seed companies, and the "pass" for international trade.

It is understood that in 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued the "Implementation Opinions on Carrying out Crop Seed Certification", marking the formal establishment of the crop seed certification system uniformly implemented by the state. Since then, with the first batch of supporting documents such as the catalog, implementation rules and technical specifications of seed certification, the first batch of two seed certification agencies have obtained corresponding qualifications, the first batch of seed certification inspectors have obtained registration qualifications, and the seed certification system has been officially implemented.
As of now, more than 300 batches of 31 varieties and more than 10 million kilograms of seeds have passed the certification. The inspection results show that the seed germination rate and variety purity level of certified crops such as corn, soybeans, and rice have been significantly improved.
The person in charge said that the first batch of certified seeds are an important milestone in the completion and implementation of my country's seed certification system. With the promotion and application of more high-quality certified seeds, it will play an important supporting role in promoting the high-quality development of my country's seed industry and promoting the large-scale yield of grain and oil crops.
