CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Water Resources, on March 21, the control gate of the South Canal of Sinusi Hub located in Dezhou, Shandong was opened. The emergency water supply project of the north extension emergency water supply project of the East Line I project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (hereinafter referred to as the North Extension Project of the East Line) merged with the water incoming water of the Wei Canal and entered the South Canal. The entire section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal north of the Yellow River has been opened. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has been fully connected to the entire line for four consecutive years since 2022.
The 2025 water replenishment plan will last until the end of June. The northern section of the Yellow River of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is as the main connecting route. It starts from Dongbianmen, Beijing in the north, through Tonghui River and Bei Canal to Sancha River in Tianjin, and from the exit gate of Liaocheng Passing Yellow Project in Shandong Province in the south, through Xiaohua, Wei Canal and Nan Canal to Sancha River in Tianjin, involving four provinces and cities, and flows through 8 prefecture-level administrative regions and 31 county-level administrative regions. By optimizing the allocation and dispatching of water supply for the North Extension Project of the East Line, local water (including Luanhui diversion water), yellow water, recycled water and rainwater in the four provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong Provinces and cities, it is estimated that the water replenishment volume will be provided, of which 529 million cubic meters will be 529 million cubic meters of water in the Grand Canal of Beijing and Hangzhou, the total length of the water replenishment line will be 1,274 kilometers, and the irrigation area of 460,000 mu of deep groundwater will be replaced. The groundwater water level around the water replenishment river will rise or remain stable, and the water ecosystem will be restored and improved.
Since the start of water replenishment in 2025, as of March 20, the North Extension Project of the East Line, Panzhuang Yellow River diversion, Guanting Reservoir, recycled water and rainfall water have been replenished 157.61 million cubic meters of water to the section north of the Yellow River of the Grand Canal, completing 28.3% of the planned water replenishment. Among them, the North Extension Project of the East Line has a total of 81.86 million cubic meters of water replenished, completing 54.2% of the planned water replenishment; Panzhuang Huangdiu has a total of 15.32 million cubic meters of water replenished, completing 11.5% of the planned water replenishment; Guanting Reservoir has a total of 2.64 million cubic meters of water replenished, completing 6.6% of the planned water replenishment; regenerated water and rainwater have a total of 57.79 million cubic meters of water replenished, completing 31.8% of the planned water replenishment.
