CCTV News: On March 21, the second phase of the meridian project, a major national scientific and technological infrastructure for space weather research, successfully passed the national acceptance, and formed the world's largest comprehensive space and environmental foundation monitoring network with the first phase of the meridian project, marking that my country's space and environmental foundation monitoring capabilities have leaped to the world's leading position.

The meridian project is the first national major scientific and technological infrastructure in the field of space weather in my country. The first phase was officially launched in 2012. The second phase of the meridian project accepted by this time started construction in 2019. On the basis of the first phase, 16 stations and 195 (sets) of monitoring equipment were added. In collaboration with the first phase, it will monitor and forecast space weather events such as solar flares, coronal mass ejection, and magnetic storms to ensure the safe operation of high-tech systems such as aerospace, communications, and navigation.

The second phase of the meridian project has built a number of major space weather monitoring equipment, such as the world's largest comprehensive aperture radio telescope - the circular array solar radio imaging telescope; the world's first all-season observation array large-diameter lidar, and the world's most powerful detection capabilities in phased array incoherent scattering radar, etc. The technical indicators have reached the international advanced level.
