Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 14 (Reporters Dong Xue, Lu Junyu) Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Riyabkov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gary Bu Abadi who came to China to attend the China-Russia-Iran-Beijing meeting on the Iran nuclear issue on the 14th.
Wang Yi said that over the past year, the Middle East issue has continued to ferment, the regional security situation has seriously deteriorated, and hot issues have not yet been resolved. As a responsible major country, China has always been committed to political settlements of regional hot spots, to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East, and to support the unity and self-reliance of regional countries. There are enough problems in the Middle East. All parties should focus on the Palestinian-Israeli issue and resolve the historical injustice that has been delayed since World War II, and should not create new tensions or even crises.
Wang Yi said that the comprehensive agreement on the Iran nuclear issue is an important achievement of properly addressing sensitive issues through dialogue and negotiation, and is a successful practice of practicing the concept of multilateralism, and has played a unique and important role in maintaining the overall regional stability and maintaining the international nuclear non-proliferation system. Unfortunately, during the implementation of this agreement, it was disturbed by the US's insistence on withdrawing. Now, the situation has reached a critical juncture. Wang Yi stressed that we must buy time for peace, resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means, and oppose resort to force and illegal sanctions. We must abide by international rules, maintain the integrity of the nuclear non-proliferation system, appreciate Iran's commitment to abide by the promise of not developing nuclear weapons, and respect Iran's right to peacefully use nuclear energy. We must actively seek to expand consensus and strive to find reasonable solutions that take into account the concerns of all parties through consultation.
Wang Yi said that the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Three Kingdoms successfully held a Beijing meeting on the Iran nuclear issue and issued a joint statement, which is an important step in the right direction. We will also strengthen communication with other parties in the Iranian nuclear issue, promote them to show their political sincerity and return to the talks as soon as possible. Peace can still be fought for and should not be given up easily. Unilateral sanctions will only intensify conflicts, and dialogue and negotiation are the only choice.
Wang Yi put forward five Chinese propositions on properly resolving the Iranian nuclear issue: First, insist on peacefully resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means, and oppose resort to force and illegal sanctions. The second is to adhere to the balance of rights and responsibilities, and coordinate the goal of non-proliferation and peaceful use of nuclear energy. Third, we will adhere to the framework of the comprehensive agreement on the Iran nuclear issue as the basis and resume dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible. Fourth, we will adhere to dialogue and promote cooperation and oppose the strong promotion of the intervention of the United Nations Security Council. Be cautious in the "rapid recovery of sanctions". Fifth, adhere to the principle of step-by-step reciprocity and seek consensus through consensus. As a permanent member of the Security Council and a participant in the comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear issue, China will maintain communication and coordination with all parties, actively persuade and promote talks, and play a constructive role in promoting early resumption of talks.
Ryabkov and Garybu Abadi thanked China for hosting the Beijing meeting, highly praised China's constructive role, positively evaluated the achievements made by the meeting, expressed their willingness to continue to maintain dialogue and cooperation, and seek to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means. Russia and Iran are willing to maintain and strengthen communication and cooperation with China in international multilateral mechanisms such as the BRICS countries and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
