People's Daily, Beijing, March 8 (Reporter Luo Shanshan) The Ministry of Commerce issued an announcement on the 8th, announcing the results of the anti-discrimination investigation into Canada and announcing that tax measures will be taken.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce said on the same day that despite China's repeated opposition and dissuasion, Canada took unilateral restrictive measures against relevant electric vehicles, steel and aluminum imported from China without investigation, undermining China's economic and trade relations. China strongly dissatisfied with this and firmly opposed it. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce officially launched an anti-discrimination investigation on Canadian restrictive measures against China on September 26, 2024.
The spokesperson said that after investigation, the relevant measures investigated in Canada constitute discriminatory restrictions, affecting the normal trade order and damaging the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. China has decided to impose tariffs on some goods imported by itself in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and other laws. China urges Canada to correct its wrong practices immediately, cancel restrictions, and eliminate adverse effects.
