Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun presided over the regular press conference held today (February 12). A reporter asked: It is reported that the defense ministers of Japan and the United States will discuss the Taiwan issue in late March. What does the spokesperson have to say about this?
Guo Jiakun said that the United States and Japan issued a joint statement recently, openly making remarks on issues involving Taiwan and interfering in China's internal affairs. China has made solemn representations to the United States and Japan and expressed strong dissatisfaction. The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affairs and is the core of China's core interests and does not allow any external interference. The US and Japanese governments have made solemn promises to China on the Taiwan issue, especially Japan is responsible for serious historical crimes of Taiwan’s aggression and colonial rule, and should be cautious in its words and actions on the Taiwan issue. We urge the United States and Japan to abide by the one-China principle and their own commitments, immediately stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and stop manipulating issues related to China.
