CCTV News: On January 16, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the latest data on my country's shipbuilding industry in 2024. China's shipbuilding industry has three major indicators: shipbuilding completion volume, new orders received, and handheld orders, which continued to grow steadily, and the world's first for 15 consecutive years.

Data shows that in 2024, my country's three major indicators of shipbuilding completion, new orders received, and handheld orders accounted for 55.7%, 74.1% and 63.1% of the world market share, respectively, and continued to grow steadily. What is noticeable is that in 2024, my country's new orders received and handheld orders both hit the best level in China's shipbuilding history.

Li Yanqing, Secretary-General of the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, said that he achieved a very good result in 2024, and made great progress in both market order acceptance and organization of production. This shows that China's shipbuilding industry has a strong foundation and its ability to cooperate with high-quality suppliers around the world is the result of everyone's common progress. So in fact, China's shipbuilding industry belongs to both China and the world.

The latest data also shows that in 2024, my country's shipbuilding completion volume increased by 13.8% year-on-year; the number of new orders received increased by 58.8% year-on-year; as of the end of December, the number of handheld orders increased by 49.7% year-on-year. Among the 18 major ship types in the world, 14 of China's new ship types ranked first in the world. All shipyards across the country have exceeded the annual operating indicators, and market demand has grown rapidly.

Li Yanqing, Secretary-General of the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, introduced that China's shipbuilding industry orders can meet the workload in the next nearly 4 years, which shows that China's shipbuilding industry has taken a key step in future stable work. Data given by the forecast model of the China Shipbuilding Association (Shipbuilding Industry Association) shows that the annual increase in sea freight trade volume is about 25 million to 50 million dwt, and overall it still maintains an upward trend.

Many shipping companies achieved a "good start" in 2025

China's shipbuilding industry set another record in 2024. At the beginning of the new year of 2025, many shipbuilding companies in my country completed ship delivery one after another, achieving a "good start".

On the first working day of 2025, China Ship Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding delivered the 114,000-ton finished oil tanker "Marine Detective", becoming the first ship delivery company this year; on January 3, the 82,600-ton bulk carrier and 62,000-ton heavy crane multi-purpose ship independently developed and built by my country were delivered in Jiangsu; on January 7, the first 7,000-car LNG dual-fuel vehicle transport ship built for BYD was delivered; on the same day, a 210,000-ton ammonia reserved bulk carrier also completed the signature delivery in Qingdao...

High value-added ships are delivered one after another, and the work in the dock is also very lively. At Shanghai Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, the reporter saw that the LNG transport ship built in the dock had just been launched and the second batch came in. This year, Shanghai Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard will reach 19 LNG transport ships under construction at the same time.

Zhang Xiufeng, deputy general manager of China Shipbuilding Hudong China, introduced that the dock cycle has been scheduled to the end of 2030. They have been pursuing integrated and modular construction, which has made a leap in shipbuilding rhythm and efficiency. This year is an outbreak year for double production capacity, and the planned delivery and completion of 13 LNG ships is another new peak in recent years.
