CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in the first two months, telecommunications business revenue maintained positive growth, network construction and application of 5G, Gigabit optical networks and other networks continued to advance, the scale of connecting users steadily expanded, and the mobile Internet access traffic grew rapidly.

Overall operation

Telecommunications business revenue increased slightly. In the first two months, the total revenue of telecommunications business reached 295 billion yuan, an increase of 0.9% year-on-year. The total volume of telecommunications services calculated based on the constant price last year increased by 7.6% year-on-year.

The development of telecommunications users

The scale of gigabit users continues to expand. As of the end of February, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 675 million, a net increase of 4.936 million from the end of last year. Among them, there were 641 million fixed Internet broadband access users with access rates of 100Mbps and above, accounting for 95% of the total number of users; there were 214 million fixed Internet broadband access users with access rates of 1000Mbps and above, a net increase of 6.741 million from the end of last year, accounting for 31.7% of the total number of users, accounting for 0.8 percentage points higher than the end of last year.

The number of 5G users is increasing rapidly. As of the end of February, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies and China Radio and Television reached 1.793 billion, a net increase of 3.273 million from the end of the previous year. Among them, 5G mobile phone users reached 1.051 billion, a net increase of 36.53 million from the end of last year, accounting for 58.6% of mobile phone users.

Cellular Internet of Things users are growing rapidly, while Internet TV (IPTV, OTT) users have steadily increased. As of the end of February, the three basic telecommunications companies developed 2.702 billion cellular Internet of Things terminal users, a net increase of 46.08 million from the end of last year. The number of Internet TV (IPTV, OTT) users reached 409 million, a net increase of 1.929 million from the end of last year.

Using of telecommunications services

The growth rate of mobile Internet traffic has increased slightly. In the first two months, the cumulative traffic of mobile Internet reached 55.39 billion GB, an increase of 13.6% year-on-year. As of the end of February, the number of mobile Internet users reached 1.561 billion, a net decrease of 8.745 million from the end of last year. In February, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of households reached 16.64GB/household·month, an increase of 11.3% year-on-year, 3.06GB/household·month lower than the end of the previous year.

The volume of telephone calls continues to decline, and the volume of mobile SMS services has increased significantly. In the first two months, the mobile phone call time completed 321.6 billion minutes, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%; the fixed-line call time completed 10.34 billion minutes, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%. In the first two months, the national mobile SMS business volume increased by 18.3% year-on-year; the mobile SMS business revenue increased by 0.9% year-on-year.

Communication capability status

The construction of Gigabit fiber broadband network continues to advance. As of the end of February, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide reached 1.214 billion, a net increase of 12.24 million from the end of last year. Among them, the number of fiber optic access (FTTH/O) ports reached 1.171 billion, a net increase of 11.27 million from the end of last year, accounting for 96.5% of the Internet broadband access ports. As of the end of February, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capabilities reached 28.92 million, a net increase of 718,000 from the end of last year.

The construction of 5G networks is progressing steadily. As of the end of February, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.325 million, a net increase of 74,000 from the end of last year, accounting for 34.1% of the total number of mobile base stations, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the end of last year.
