CCTV News: Due to the appropriate sea water temperature this year, Shandong Rongcheng kelp is growing well. Recently, the local breeding area has ushered in a bumper harvest.
At 5 a.m., accompanied by the sound of motors, the kelp harvesting work boat began to march towards the breeding area. In the breeding area, a large area of breeding floats float on the sea, and there are three strings of kelp between every two floats. Workers drive boats between the breeding floats and harvest strings of kelp.
After the first wave of harvesting operations, the operation ships began to return to the dock one after another. The crane lifts strings of kelp seedling ropes from the sea. The length of kelp leaves attached to the rope is about 3 meters, the length can reach 7 meters, and the weight of a single string can reach 80 kilograms.
It is understood that this year, Rongcheng City expects to have kelp breeding area of 163,000 mu, an increase of about 3% over last year.
