"Shubadler (Tibetan means 'good morning'), today I prepared tsampa and butter tea for everyone. After breakfast, we went to watch Tibetan opera together." Seeing the guests walk out of the room, Mima Yangji, a resident of the Zhaxi Qudeng Community, Naidong District, Shannan City, Tibet, greeted everyone to enjoy breakfast.

The Yalong Zhaxi Xueba Tibetan Opera mentioned by Mima Yangji is a representative project of national intangible cultural heritage, and the Zhaxi Qudeng community is its birthplace. According to La Yuan, Party Secretary of the Shannan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, in 2019, relying on Tibetan opera cultural resources, the Hubei Provincial Tibet Aid Working Team and Naidong District invested nearly 50 million yuan to improve the living environment of the Qudeng community in Zaxi and create a characteristic homestay. Nowadays, with the development model of "Tibetan Opera + B&B", the Taxi Qudeng Community has embarked on the path of innovative development of the integration of culture and tourism to empower rural revitalization.

In order to have a good travel meal, Baima Yangzong, 33, renovated his own house last year. "One more room to receive tourists will have more income. Now that community tourism is so prosperous, our reception level must also be improved to provide better services to tourists," said Baima Yangzong.

Peng Fan, a tourist from Guangzhou, was wearing a Tibetan outfit, strolling in the community to take photos and check in. He was in his ears with the melodious singing style of Tibetan opera, and in front of him were street lights and signs with the mask elements of Tibetan opera. "The Tibetan opera culture here is very strong, and when you are in it, you are full of 'entering'. We experienced the authentic national customs and saw strong and powerful steps in local rural revitalization." Peng Fan said.

In the Yalong Zhaxi Xueba Tibetan Opera Training Base, community residents wore white masks and colorful costumes. Their dances were graceful and their lyrics were sonorous, which attracted tourists to take photos. "In the past, Tibetan opera was only performed for the villagers during festivals. Now it has become a 'golden sign' to attract tourists and a 'get rich song' for everyone. As a inheritor, I am very proud of it." Nima Tseren, a national representative inheritor of Yalong Zhaxi Xueba Tibetan opera, said.

"To develop tourism, the community environment is better, everyone's income has increased, and their lives are happy." Luo Buciren, deputy director of the Taxi Qudeng Community Neighborhood Committee, said that now more than 90% of the families in the community participate in the tourism industry. The community has received more than 86,000 tourists in total, driving the community collective and people to increase their income by more than 7.3 million yuan, and the per capita income increased by 32,000 yuan in 2024.

In 2020, the Taxi Qudeng Community was rated as a national key demonstration village for rural tourism; in 2023, it was rated as a national tourism and leisure district by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. From "it is difficult to get rich by guarding cultural treasures" to "eating ecological cultural and tourism rice", the transformation of the Taxi Qudeng community is a vivid footnote to the rural revitalization of Tibet.

According to reports, Shannan City will take the Taxi Qudeng Community as a demonstration, deeply explore the essence of traditional culture, combine the development trend of modern tourism industry, create tourism products with local characteristics, promote the sustainable and healthy development of the cultural and tourism industry, and inject new vitality into rural revitalization.
