On April 9, the newly revised "Marriage Registration Regulations" was promulgated and will come into effect on May 10, 2025.

The full text of the regulations has 6 chapters and 28 articles, including "General Provisions", "Marriage Registration", "Divorce Registration", "Marriage Registration File Management", "Legal Liability", "Application Provisions".

The main contents of the revision of the regulations include three aspects: First, increase the content of marriage and family services, stipulate that local people's governments at or above the county level strengthen the comprehensive marriage and family service guidance and the construction of marriage and family counseling service system, advocate civilized marriage customs, promote family harmony, and guide the establishment of a correct view of marriage and love, childbirth, and family; Second, implement the "nation-wide" marriage registration, deepen the reform of the marriage registration system, and further improve the convenience of marriage registration; Third, optimize marriage registration services, stipulate that local people's governments at or above the county level take measures to improve the level of marriage registration services, and strengthen the standardization and facilitation of marriage registration venues.
