CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Water Resources, in order to continue to promote the recovery of rivers and lake ecological environment in North China and comprehensive management of groundwater over-exploitation, the Ministry of Water Resources recently issued and implemented the "Water Replenishment Plan for the 2025 Full Line of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal". On February 10, the Liuwuhe control gate of the Shandong section of the first phase of the South-to-North Water Diversion East Line Project was opened, and the emergency north extension project of the East Line of the South-to-North Water Diversion East Line was replenished to the small canal; on February 20, the water sources of the Miyun Reservoir and Huairou Reservoir were replenished through the Beijing-Mi water diversion canal through the Wenyu River to the north canal. The full line of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal will be fully launched in 2025.

The 2025 water replenishment plan will last until the end of June. The northern section of the Yellow River of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is as the main connecting route. It starts from Dongbianmen, Beijing in the north, through Tonghui River and Bei Canal to Sancha River in Tianjin, and from the exit gate of Liaocheng Passing Yellow Project in Shandong Province in the south, through Xiaohua, Wei Canal and Nan Canal to Sancha River in Tianjin, involving four provinces and cities, and flows through 8 prefecture-level administrative regions and 31 county-level administrative regions. By optimizing the allocation and dispatching of water supply water supply projects in the first phase of the South-to-North Water Diversion East Line, local water, yellow water diversion, Luan water diversion, recycled water and rainwater in the four provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong, it is estimated that the water replenishment volume will be provided, of which 529 million cubic meters of water enter the Grand Canal, the total length of the water replenishment line is 1,274 kilometers, and the irrigation area of 460,000 mu of deep groundwater is replaced. On the basis of maintaining water in the entire section of the river south of the Yellow River of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the entire line of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal will be opened to water and try to maintain water in the entire line. The groundwater level around the water replenishing river will rise or remain stable, and the water ecosystem will be restored and improved.

During the water replenishment period, the Ministry of Water Resources will organize relevant units and local governments along the route to strengthen river cleaning and rectification, ensure joint water scheduling, implement water source replacement and groundwater replenishment, strengthen water pollution prevention and control, strengthen dynamic tracking and monitoring, increase efforts to protect water pipes, and ensure orderly implementation of water replenishment.
