On February 20, on the occasion of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress, the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the National People's Congress Standing Committee jointly held a briefing and released 10 typical cases of high-quality handling of representative suggestions.

The cases released this time cover many aspects: promoting the high-quality development of small and micro enterprises, the development of new energy vehicles, reducing costs and increasing efficiency of transportation and logistics, improving birth support policies, strengthening the protection of the rights and interests of specific groups, promoting the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, promoting the development of digital service trade, strengthening the construction of a beautiful China, promoting the high-quality development of the follow-up project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and strengthening vocational education.

National Congress deputies make suggestions on all aspects of work, which is an important form for NPC deputies to perform their representative duties in accordance with the law and reflect the opinions of the people. They carry the people's yearning for a better life and embody the wisdom and strength of the people. Carefully studying and handling the suggestions put forward by representatives is the legal responsibility of all state organs and an inevitable requirement to respect the people's dominant position and support representatives in performing their duties in accordance with the law.

According to the head of the Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, during the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress, the National People's Congress deputies performed their duties in accordance with the law, put forward 9,235 suggestions, criticisms and opinions on all aspects of work, and handed over to 213 undertaking units for research and handling, of which 20 key suggestions were supervised.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Organization Law of the National People's Congress and the Representative Law, all the hosting units completed the processing and responded to the NPC deputies in October last year. In December, the Working Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee reported on the handling of representatives' suggestions to the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress.

Each organizer regards handling representative suggestions as a key task of the year, closely combines the implementation of handling and promoting high-quality development of the industry, and transforms representative suggestions into momentum for industry development. During the process of handling the suggestions, the organizer strengthens "face-to-face" communication with the representatives and "shoulder-to-shoulder" investigations, deeply explores the people's wishes and calls reflected by the representatives' suggestions, makes good use of the "door-to-door investigation", and overcomes a difficult point and solves a number of problems by handling one suggestion.

In answering reporters' questions, Li Xiaosong, deputy director of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will closely combine the handling of representative suggestions with the promotion of the development of intangible cultural heritage protection, draw wisdom from representative suggestions, continuously improve the relevant working mechanisms for intangible cultural heritage protection, and summarize and refine representative topics such as "intangible cultural heritage integration into modern life" and "intangible cultural heritage into campus".

The head of the Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress said that the "two ties" will be used as a starting point to deepen and expand the work of the National People's Congress deputies, seek progress while maintaining stability and promoting the quality and efficiency of the work of representatives' suggestions, better support and guarantee representatives to perform their duties in accordance with the law, serve as a bridge between the Party and the state and the people, and make new contributions to adhering to the improvement and operation of the people's congress system.
