This temporary kitchen provides hot rice and hot dishes to thousands of people every day, becoming a warm harbor for the affected people and rescue workers.

In the early morning, Zhang Yingzhi, a chef from "Unity Kitchen", started his day's work. This morning, they prepared egg noodles and fried cabbage. With the full implementation of emergency rescue work, rescue forces from all parties gathered in Jinping Village, but the location here is remote, the roads are narrow, and the security capacity is very limited. It became the top priority to quickly open a hot food supply point at that time. At 0:00 on February 9, the kitchen officially started operating on the 12th hour after the landslide disaster. The villagers have made great efforts and the ingredients are made with food. At 4 a.m., the rescuers had their first hot meal. At that time, there were 16 chefs and staff, all of whom were nearby villagers.

Villagers of Daxueshan Town, Yunlian County said that 800 kilograms of rice were cooked at noon on the 9th, and there were only 6 stoves here. The rice for so many people could not be cooked. The people cooked the rice at home and cooked the vegetables. Now, the local government is actively involved and raises supplies from multiple sources, so the kitchen is running smoother.

There are 6 chefs in "Unity Kitchen", one of which is a young man named Liu Zhongyi, who is a retired soldier. While in the army, he worked as a cook for several years, and he arrived here as soon as the disaster occurred.

Liu Zhongyi said: "We will go wherever we need it. This is also an obligation to practice the responsibility of a party member."

Everyone's kitchen has to fry an average of 25 pots of dishes per meal, which runs 24 hours a day. In this kitchen, no matter who it is, no matter when it is, as long as you are thirsty and hungry, you can eat a bite of hot meal.

The volunteers said: "When the rescuers are tired, they have water to drink and food to eat. They can't make them tired, hungry and cold. I can't stand it if they have no food to eat."

You protect the safety of the people, and I keep the cold and cold. The smoke from the cooking fires ignited in a small area witnesses the endless and united force of disaster areas. Every day, nearly 100 people come here to help the kitchen. The small "Unity Kitchen" serves more than 3,000 people (times) of the affected people, volunteers and rescue workers every day.
