In 2024, foreign non-financial direct investment was US$143.85 billion, an increase of 10.5% over the previous year. Investment in the ASEAN region grew rapidly, up 12.6% from the previous year, mainly investing in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries. From the perspective of the industry, it mainly flows to leasing and business services, manufacturing, and wholesale and retail industries.

Second, the scale of external contracting projects has steadily increased. In 2024, the turnover of foreign contracted projects was US$165.97 billion, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year, and the new contract amount was US$267.3 billion, an increase of 1.1% over the previous year, setting a record high. Green infrastructure cooperation has been in-depth development, and the newly signed contracts for energy-saving and environmentally friendly cleaning projects were US$49.26 billion, an increase of 12.7%.

The third is to achieve restorative growth in foreign labor. In 2024, 409,000 labor personnel of various types were dispatched, an increase of 17.9% over the previous year. 594,000 labor personnel of various types were concentrated in the construction, transportation, warehousing and postal industries, playing an important role in ensuring employment and promoting rural revitalization.

The fourth is to actively serve the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". The non-financial direct investment of Chinese enterprises in the "Belt and Road" countries was US$33.69 billion, an increase of 5.4% over the previous year. The new contracts signed for foreign contracting projects were US$232.48 billion, and the turnover was US$138.76 billion, accounting for 87% and 83.6% of the total respectively. By continuing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with countries jointly built, we have made positive contributions to the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
