Xi Jinping congratulated Rousseff on his re-election as president of the New Development Bank. Xi Jinping pointed out that the New Development Bank is the first multilateral development institution founded and dominated by emerging market countries and developing countries. It is an innovative initiative of the global and southern alliance and self-improvement. It conforms to the historical trend of reforming and improving global governance and has grown into a golden signboard for emerging forces and global southern cooperation in the international financial system.
Xi Jinping stressed that the "Big BRICS Cooperation" has entered the stage of high-quality development, and the New Development Bank must also embark on the second "golden decade" of high-quality development. We must practice our original aspirations, closely follow the development needs of the global south, and provide more high-quality, low-cost and sustainable infrastructure financing; practice internal skills, improve management and operations, implement more science and technology finance and green finance projects, help developing countries bridge the digital divide, accelerate green and low-carbon transformation; be pioneering and enterprising, amplify the voice of the global south in the discussion on international financial structure reform, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the global south, and support global southern countries to take the path of modernization. As the host country, China will continue to support the operation and development of the New Development Bank. It is willing to strengthen project cooperation with the New Development Bank, focus on green, innovative and sustainable development, and achieve more pragmatic cooperation results; it is willing to share development experience with other member countries through the New Development Bank and provide more international public products.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the collective rise of the global South has become an important force in maintaining world peace, promoting common development, and improving global governance. No matter how the international situation changes, the general direction of human development and progress will not change. China's development relies on self-reliance and hard work, and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and the common interests of the international community.
