CCTV News: The reporter learned from the "Academic Seminar on Earth-Moon Space DRO Exploration and Research" held in Beijing on April 15 that the three satellites deployed and developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Class A strategic pilot project "Ear-Moon Space DRO Exploration and Research", which has established an inter-satellite measurement and communication link, which marks that China has successfully built the world's first three-star constellation of earth-Moon Space, and has achieved a number of original and important achievements, laying a solid scientific and technological foundation for China to develop and utilize the new territory of earth-Moon Space and lead the forefront of space science.

Earth and Moon space exploration, in the building of the Space Application Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a group of scientists are doing such a hard-core and highly ignited thing. They launched three satellites a year ago, one in a sun-synchronous orbit about 500 kilometers, and the other two aimed at the mysterious DRO orbit. These two stars accidentally encountered a rocket launch abnormality and only entered the orbit of a distance of 134,000 kilometers, which was half the distance from the predetermined altitude. So what exactly is a DRO track? Why is it so important?

DRO orbit refers to a long-distance retrograde orbit, 310,000-450,000 kilometers away from the earth and 70,000-100,000 kilometers away from the moon. It is an extremely special orbit in the earth-moon space. Satellites will be torn by gravity from the earth and the moon in the earth and moon, as chaotic as in the Three-Body World, but this special orbit finds order and balance in the extremely chaotic Three-Body World.

The key points are drawn below! The unique DRO track has three major characteristics:

First is low energy entry. The energy required to enter the DRO orbit is very low, and this mission is even more powerful. Scientists use the gravity of the sun, the earth and the moon to catch the opportunity and pop up easily like a "slingshot". They only need to use one-fifth of the fuel in the traditional way of entering orbit, so that the more scientific loads and effective materials can be carried.

The second is stable mooring. Satellites can operate stably in DRO orbit for about a hundred years, and compared with satellites at the Lagrangian point that need to be corrected once every few days, which can be said to be quite stable.

The third feature is maneuver transfer. Since the DRO orbit is in a potential energy highland, satellites in the orbit are like compressed springs, and can be easily reached if you want to go to the surface of the moon or other areas in the earth-moon space.

Wang Wenbin, a researcher at the Center for Space Application Engineering and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced that it is the first time in the world to verify that using satellites to track satellites, rather than track satellites on the ground, is equivalent to turning a traditional ground station into a satellite and putting it on a low-orbit orbit. For future exploration of earth-moon space, including deep space exploration, new technological paths have been opened up.
