CCTV News: According to the website of the National Bureau of Statistics, in December 2024, the national consumer price rose by 0.1% year-on-year. Among them, cities rose by 0.1%, rural areas remained the same; food prices fell by 0.5%, non-food prices rose by 0.2%, consumer goods prices fell by 0.2%, and service prices rose by 0.5%.
In December, the national consumer prices remained unchanged month-on-month. Among them, cities remained the same, while rural areas fell by 0.1%; food prices fell by 0.6%, non-food prices rose by 0.1%; consumer goods prices fell by 0.1%, and service prices rose by 0.1%.
In the whole year of 2024, the national consumer price rose by 0.2% compared with the previous year.
1. Year-on-year changes in the prices of various goods and services
In December, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol remained the same year-on-year. Among foods, the price of fresh fruits fell by 3.0%, affecting the CPI (Consumer Price Index) by about 0.06 percentage points; the price of grain fell by 1.3%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat rose by 1.7%, affecting the CPI by about 0.05 percentage points, of which pork prices rose by 12.5%, affecting the CPI by about 0.15 percentage points; the price of aquatic products rose by 1.0%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points; the price of fresh vegetables rose by 0.5%, affecting the CPI by about 0.01 percentage points.
The prices in the other seven categories rose by five and fell by two years. Among them, the prices of other supplies, services and clothing rose by 4.9% and 1.2% respectively, the prices of education, culture, entertainment, and health care rose by 0.9%, and the prices of residential prices rose by 0.1% respectively; the prices of transportation, communications, daily necessities and services fell by 2.2% and 0.7% respectively.
2. Changes in the price of various goods and services on a month-on-month basis
In December, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol fell by 0.3% month-on-month, affecting the CPI decline by about 0.09 percentage points. Among foods, the price of fresh vegetables fell by 2.4%, affecting the CPI by about 0.05 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat fell by 1.3%, affecting the CPI by about 0.04 percentage points, of which the price of pork fell by 2.1%, affecting the CPI by about 0.03 percentage points; the price of fresh fruit fell by 1.0%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points.
The other seven categories of prices rose four times month-on-month, two slumps and one fell. Among them, the prices of daily necessities, services, transportation and communications rose by 0.3%, while the prices of clothing and housing rose by 0.2% and 0.1% respectively; the prices of education, culture, entertainment, other goods and services remained the same; the prices of medical care fell by 0.1%.
